About the Competition

Spire Web is a Salisbury based business applications developer and we are currently bringing to market a system to allow restaurants to manage their own online Take-Away menus. The idea is to allow customers to place and pay for their meal orders online.

However we currently don’t have any art-work or even a name for this product, so we are asking you to help. Students of Art, Design and Technology are invited to take part in a competition to design a new Logo and Product Name for our online Take-Away menus application.

There will be cash prizes as follows:

1st Prize £100
2nd Prize £75
3rd Prize £50
4th Prize £25

In addition there will be a further donation of £250 to the PTA of the school which provides any entry we decide to use for the product.

The competition is open to students at any Schools that wish to take part and to any students in years 7 to 13. The closing date for entries which should be submitted by email or post is Monday 20th July.

Entries will be judged by a panel of company directors and professional designers working in the local area. The results will be published on our website and in The Salisbury Journal as well as being circulated to participating schools.

If you wish to work on this using school facilities, during school time, or to incorporate the work into a school project, please ensure you have your head teacher’s permission.

How to Enter

Your entry can take any form but obviously we would prefer formats which are easily included in a website – so, for example, graphics produced in JPEG, TIFF, or PNG format using computerised graphic design software would be good. However, if your preference is for traditional Art mediums like paint or pencil we are still interested to receive them and we can always digitise them ourselves.

Guidelines

To get some idea of what the product does you can have a look at our test system which as you will see is a working restaurant menu but with a fairly blank home page

So the task is to come up with a more inspiring or catchy name and a LOGO which either accompanies or includes that name. In addition you are encouraged to decide what might go in the blank space on the home page, although this is optional.

Conditions of Entry

By entering this competition you as an individual or group accept the following conditions.

  1. By submitting any material or works of art or design, you agree to allow Spire Web exclusively to make use of your ideas, pictures and other elements that comprise the submissions for marketing and publication purposes.
  2. If any part of your work is done at school or makes use of school facilities you must ensure you have your head teacher’s permission.
  3. The judges decisions about which entries receive prizes are final.
